In the Lower School, the CCS experience begins with the nurturing relationship teachers form with every child. There is a feeling of physical and emotional safety that pervades the school and allows children to blossom. Students gain necessary foundational skills in reading, writing, and mathematics.
Throughout the Lower School experience, opportunities to develop and enhance personal and social characteristics like leadership, collaboration, independence, poise, and curiosity abound. In addition critical thinking skills are developed through conceptual units based around Biblical concepts. In these units students learn all the skills necessary to effectively communicate their understandings.
By blending conceptual learning and traditional skills-based learning in the classroom, Lower School students are well prepared to transition into Middle School.
